don’t panic. I know Civil Services Exam is quiet tough but you can crack it if you prepare thoroughly. You need to regularly study a good national newspaper along with competition magazine and a general knowledge book. "General Knowledge Refresher" by O.P. Khanna and "The Competition Master”, India year book, Manorama year book, Chronicle year book are prominent books to consult. Apart from them, basic books or NCERT books on Indian Constitution, freedom struggle, Indian History, National Movement, World and Indian Geography, and budget/economic survey should also be studied.

In order to have detailed understanding of major national and international events you need to study good backgrounder or you can go through at least one year old newspapers. Understanding of the background of any social, economic or political event is quiet essential. Comprehensive study of each and every aspect is required. So consulting only one or two books won’t be enough. Read as much as you can. In addition, you can consult students who have recently appeared in the examination. Go through previous year question papers to get an idea about the kind of questions that are asked.
