The graph given below shows the distribution of biomes :
(a) What do the ‘X’ and ‘Y’ axes represent?
(b) Identify the ‘grassland’ and ‘coniferous forest’ biomes, from the above figure.
(c) Why is ‘F’ located at the given position in the graph?

(a) X axis represents mean annual precipitation (cm) and Y axis represents mean annual temperature (°C).
(b) ‘B’ is the grassland biome and ‘E’ is coniferousforest biome.
(c) ‘F’ represents tundra biome, because the area is covered by snow for most part of year, as it receives very little precipitation mostly in the form of snow. It has permafrost conditions due to very low temperature. It is located in Northern Hemisphere and is absent in Southern Hemisphere because corresponding region is covered by antarctic region
